Bargain Styling Mission: Hunt down the hot trend for fall- pebbled skin

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

In this month’s Elle magazine one of their Elle fashion trends was pebbled skin. Of course, almost all of the examples they give were of real crocodile and had price tags in the triple digits. Not really being a fan of either real animal skin nor being able to afford it, I went on a faux hunting trip to find one of this season’s hottest trends.

First stop, the usual suspects. Forever 21 didn’t really have anything on their site. The fifteen dollar store only had snake. Delia’s mainly deals in patent leather. I did manage to find a few cute bags at target.com. Below is one of my favorites.

www.target.com $14.99

The last stop was gojane.com where I did find several croc items. One being a pair of hot red croc heels.

Go Jane Red Croc Heels $20.90

Go Jane Metallic Print Animal Bag $15.99

I was a little disappointed that I didn’t find any faux croc bangles similar to what I picked up at the NYC wholesale district. I will be putting those with outfits for OutFitKit very soon.

Stylish, sustainble and environmentally friendly: solar backpacks

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

For those of you heading off to college and looking for a new laptop bag, I have the solution for you - Voltaic Systems. They have designed a solar backpack that will charge your cell phone, ipod, laptop and many other electronic accessories. So if you are in the middle of lecture and your battery dies you can plug right into your backpack.

The best part about the bags are that they are made of recycled PET a very durable fabric. The fabric only comes in black but to add a little style you can customize the solar panels covers with either silver, orange, green or charcoal. They may cost a little more than a traditional backpack but when you consider the environmental impact- they are a bargain!

Here are a few pictures of the backpack/laptop bag line:

La Belle Stretch Dress from 15DollarStore.com

Friday, June 29th, 2007

dresses-la-belle-stretch-panel-dress.jpg

I love this dress - the style, the necklace… but not so much the color. I do like the color, I’d just like it better if it was red, or black, or a dark brown, instead of tan. Oh well, I do still love it. And hey, it’s only $15. :)

XOXO Top from 15DollarStore.com

tops-xoxo-stretch-cowl-neck.jpg

O my beating heart, be still. I adore this shirt, from the color to the style to the necklace. It’s very casual chic. Top with some bronze jewelry, bronze metallic shoes, and jeans, and you’ve got a knock-’em-dead casual ensemble! And this shirt is only $15. Unfortunately, it’s in the site’s last call section, which means if you don’t grab one before they run out, you’ll miss out on this great shirt.

SO Solid Crewneck Tee from Kohl’s

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

shirts-0-solid-crewneck-tee.jpg

This crewneck tee is available in four different colors: red, blue, yellow and green (pictured). For warm days, pair this with a pair of shorts and strappy sandals or flats. For cooler days, you can wear it with a long-sleeved white shirt underneath, and a pair of jeans with ankle boots, or even sneakers. There are numerous ways to wear this shirt, and for $3.60 (originally $12.00), it’s a great deal. :)

Yup, you’ve read it right. I’m not sure if I like it. I don’t think PAYLESS is investing on it either judging by the 9 items on the quilted collection. See for yourself.

This is what I wore last night when we went out to dinner(and shopping afterwards, WOOT!). The $8 UNIONBAY pants, the L.E.I graphic tee that was among the haulage this past Memorial Day sale. A butterfly pendant necklace from Hot Topic(a gift form the hubby years ago), the remaining beads bracelet that I own(Baby Girl broke my other 2), DG blinged sunnies and Xhilaration black teardrop earrings from Target(can’t remember how much). The RAMPAGE studded platform shoes to complete the look.

Strapless Bow Front Mesh Dress

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

15_meshdress.jpg

Another great find from the $15 store. Ahhhh, I love the dark cobalt blue color. That’s what initially drew me to this piece. See, my husband said I look really good in dark hues of blue, hence me falling in love with the navy blue polka dot wrap dress that I found from the same store last week. I’m still looking for a perfect pair of navy blue pumps that I can afford of course :) . Anyway, back to the dress. This strapless, bow front mesh dress is from Jonathan Martin. There’s is a smocking on top along the upper back so your boobs are very well protected :) . If you like this one, grab it ASAP coz it’s also among their “last call” list.

Short Sleeve Pin Dot Blazer

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

15_blazer.jpg

I found this SELE stretch short sleeves blazer at $15 Store. It’s among their “last call” list. I love the ruching sleeves and the black tones piping of the collar and the pockets. I always go for fitted blazers so this definitely a big Yes for me when I saw it. I just fell inlove with it right away. This could be worn with either jeans or a black trouser, with heels of couse :) .

GAP 75% OFF Spring Sale

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

2gap_75.jpgGAP is getting rid of their Spring items by taking 75% off the original prices. NICE. If only I shop there a lot. Or if I shop there at all..LOL. I mostly go to the GAP Kids. For some reason, the sales clerk at the Kids department are more friendly. They greet people as they come in and very accomodating while you’re perusing the children’s clothings. While on the other side of the store are a bunch of snotty clerks who couldn’t be bothered to smile at anyone. They’re usually behind the counter gossiping about someone. This is my experience from the few GAP stores I’ve been to anyway. Maybe because I was pushing a stroller that they thought “OMG, she couldn’t possibly afford and wear GAP clothes”. Ah, the humanity.

Now that I gotten that off my system, let me show you the stuff I would buy from their 75% off Sale if I shop there.

gap_eyelet_skirt1.jpggap_polka_skirt1.jpg

First skirt is light blue geometric eyelet skirt. I love the flirtyness of it. If you’ve known me long enough, you know I adore eyelet designs. As much as I love polka-dots prints like the second skirt. It has a ruffle pleated trimmed waist with ribbon belt. The hem is tiered. Purrrrrty.

gap_white_dress1.jpg gap_black_dress1.jpg

Of course when I saw this white tiered empire dress, I had to include it in my virtual shopping cart :) . You know I love white dresses, especially the eyelet ones. I couldn’t say no to the black eyelet empire dress either. The ruffled trim and scallopped hem weren’t too shabby either.

I might have a few more coming up from the GAP 75% OFF SALE. Virtual shopping is definitely more enjoyable than shopping at their store, heh. Except the Children’s section. I love them, just want to reiterate that part :).

How about you take advantage of their sale yourself. Do it virtually or at their store, your pick :)

I’m still in a retail therapy mood. Online that is. How about the $8 UNIONBAY pants? Just check out my Friday’s Bargains after reading this post to get an idea of the kind of deals that awaits me this weekend. :)

Anyway, here are more tops that is helping this ailing fashionista right now. Wait till you see how much they are and where I found them :)

Online Retail Therapy : Under $20 Blouses

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

After a very volatile and shocking day from watching The View, I had to do something to clear my aura, heh. I felt I needed to do some retail therapy. The one true tested cure for what ails every fashionista in the world. LOL. Hey, it’s better than eating a whole bundt of pound cake, right? Not that I do that anyway, i’m just saying. But since this Momma is broke, I had to do it in a way I wouldn’t regret at the end of the day. Online Window Shopping. Yes, the credit card is a few steps behind me but a Bargain Styler would always think first before buying something. Even if it’s actually on SALE.

I love printed blouses. I’ve been trying to slowly keep adding them in my wardrobe staples. The inception of different prints like florals, geometrics, dots, nature tones, and stripes these days are making me a happy styling Momma.

So what did I find for under $20?
