What I Wore : Belted Dress W/ Jeans

I would’ve worn my Red Heels with this ensemble to match the red wide belt but I decided I’d continue wear the black heels since I wanted to wear my long cross necklace and black beads dangling eaarings. I’m glad I opted for it coz the red belt accentuated the whole look by itself. I would wear this dress by itself but my legs are still nursing a few more scars from the bug bites I’ve gotten 2 weekends ago.

Look of the Week : White and Brown Combo

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

I don’t know if it’s a fashion rule or not but it seems when someone is wearing white, you could always expect something black as an accessory. Well not Midwest_Jess. She accentuated her beautiful white dress with nature tones. From the purse, to the Dior scarf she cleverly wrapped around her wrist and the strappy shoes.

white_dress1.jpg

I love how she put the collar up as well. I’m going to follow her suit and do a white and brown combo sometime coz I too unconcsiously do the white and black combo all the time.

What I Wore : Gray Mini-Dress with Slim Trouser

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

I wore this gray mini-dress, slim black trouser and heels ensemble to Church on Mother’s Day. It was actually a last minute decision coz I planned days before to wear a white dress but my legs are tattered with bug bites from when my husband and I lounged in our deck Friday night. My husband was spared but for some reason I always end up being bitten, incessantly. We used the same bug spray for crying out loud. He said maybe because I’m too sweet. Perhaps, :)

mini_gray_shoes.jpg

I usually wear this color during Fall season but I thought I could get away with it right now by accentuating it with a pink beads necklace and pink beads bangle bracelet. Wearing a mini-dress over a trouser worked perfectly for Church in my opinion. This would also work for a date night out with hubby. For a daytime regular look I suggest wearing the mini-dress over jeans.

Metro7 mini-dress from Wal-Mart, on sale for $3. Black slim trouser which I don’t remember where I bought it..lol, sorry. Black strappy heels from PAYLESS. If I remember it right, I think it was a BOGO purchase 3 years ago.

Look of the Week : Hat, Scarf, Shorts

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

shorts_hat_look.jpg

I can never pull off a look like this. We can start with the hat and I’m done..lol. My head is too big. She’s doing it though, fabulously. The scarf around her neck definitely adds a playful yet elegant touch. The beige(?) shoes from Target fits perfectly with the length of her Bermuda shorts. So YES, I may never see myself in this outfit but KUDOS to her for looking so great in it.

What I Wore : Butterfly Blouse & Jeans

Monday, May 7th, 2007

red_shoes.jpg

Last Saturday was our 10th Year Anniversary. For my dinner date outfit I decided to just go casual: blouse and jeans with heels. I actually planned on wearing a dress days before but the weather didn’t cooperate so jeans it was. My husband matched my casual look by wearing his own Levi’s jeans and a long-sleeves button up shirt. If he wore his khakis, the rain spats would’ve been all over it so the jeans was a more practical wear.

Moving on to my outfit :) , it’s a burgundy butterfly-sleeves V-neck blouse that I bought from RAVE for $9.99 with my Levi’s low-rise jeans and my oh so sexy red heels from PAYLESS.

For the accessories, I went with my 14″ long black/brown beads necklace and gold cylinder earrings from Claire’s. The earrings were actually in a free bag that Claire’s gave my Mother-in-law when we had my daughter’s ear pierced done. Yup, she paid for her grandaughter getting her first bling on :) .

BTW, I had to don the clothes again this morning to capture the look for you my loyal readers so pardon my face with no make up and unruly hair. I still looked Hot, no? ;)

What I Wore : Bold Print Skirt and A Tee

Monday, April 30th, 2007

mulit_look1.jpg

multi_look2.jpg

Remember that multi-print skirt that I went gaga over which I only paid $4.98 from it’s original price of $58? What about those ‘beater tees that I bought in different colors for only $4.88 each? Here they are, in full force :) . Wearing bold print fabrics can be a litlte tricky once you think about accessories. With that in mind, I stucked to a solid color. There is black on the skirt so I focused on that by wearing my black long necklace with cross pendant and black dangling earrings. The cross necklace gave it a “hippy” look actually. I loved it.

blackrose_flats.jpg

To continue with the black accents, I wore a black flip flops that I bought from the PX 3 years ago.

Look of the Week : Tulip Skirt

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

tulip_skirt.jpg

Oh I adore that skirt. I WANT that skirt…LOL. Using an OLD NAVY tank top to pair with this skirt is brilliant. This is exactly how I planned to wear my multi-print skirt, except for the flats coz I’m really not into them, Sorry. Anyhoo, this looks simple yet oh so beautiful. Notice the tulips in the background? :). Good job snowdens.secret.

Bold Print Dress #2

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

geo_print_dress.jpg

To continue our Bold Print series, here’s a geometric print pink and white double surplice neckline dress. With ruched sleeves and a solid band around the waist that ties in the back. I found this Rampage print dress at Amazon for $50.99. I’m not much for a round toe flats but I think it will go nicely with this dress. Or a 3-inches high pumps, either way, you’d look fabulous in it :).

Bold Print Dress #1

ks_swirl_dress.jpg

This green swirled-oval surplice wrap dress is on sale at Kohl’s for $29.99. The solid wraparound sash gives it that flirty look in a subtle way and a very accentuated look without looking too overdone as well. A black pair of stilletos or black pumps would go nicely with this dress. Pretty huh?

I told Sasha I’ll never be able to afford the tropical floral dress($258) from Nordstrom but I’m sure I’ll find affordable versions so this is the beginning of a Bold Print Dress series I’m going to be doing here at Bargain Styling. The cost of 1 dress from Nordstrom could get you 3 or 4 dresses with my bargain help. :)

What I Wore : Belted Smocked Top W/ Red Heels

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

red_belt_look1.jpg

When I finally got my wide belts from EBAY, I thought to myself, “hmmmm, SELF, I’m sure there are are outfits we could come up with other than wearing the belts with dresses“. :) I’ve already wore the white belt with my off the shoulder orange tunic. And I planned on wearing the red one with one of my LBD’s.

Anyhooo, a light bulb went off and my bold printed smocked spaghetti straps babydoll top jumped at me. I’ve heard women say they don’t like wearing smocked tops because it makes them look pregnant. Well, I just found a solution for you. Wrap a belt around it. Wide ones though. Skinny belts wouldn’t work. I found this smocked top at Wal-Mart 3 years ago for $9.99(yes I still remember it), the red belt from Ebay, 2 for $15, L.E.I low-rise Chelsea jeans, $19.99. The Xhilaration green beads necklace from Target(on sale, $3.99) is actually a long one but I turned it into a double-strand look with this top because I know the color will get lost once mixed into the printed smocked top. AND of course to add to the red accent I was going for I wore my oh-so-orgasmic red heels from PAYLESS for shoes. The whole outfit worked perfectly, don’t you think?

red_belt_lookth.jpgred_shoes.jpg

Co-incidentally, Sasha thought of accenting her smocked top with belt as well. Sometimes I think we’re twins. Except she’s the prettier and skinnier one :).

What I Wore : Orange Day

< orange_belted_heels3.jpg

I’m wearing this orange tunic and white wide belt ensemble today for “Orange and Maroon Effect Day“. Orange tunic, $3.99 from an Army Surpluss store in NY, Levi’s jeans, $21.99, white wide belt from Ebay, black buckle detail stilletos from PX, $12.99, and black cross beads long necklace, $7.99.

If any of you are bothered for the fact that I enumerated every item in my ensemble considering it’s supposed to be in support for the Virginia Tech victims, I just want to say, this is a Fashion blog specifically for styling on a budget. Therefore the focus is fashion. I have written about this tragedy in different blogs I write for.

Anyhooo, DECODED denim mini skirt, $14.99, Metro7 black baby doll top which drives my husband crazy coz my boobs look like they’re going to pop out in a snap from Wal-Mart, on sale for $3. Look of the Week : Work that Shorts!!

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and let everybody know, I HATE LEGGINGS. I think it’s for little girls. Cute toddlers. Cute babies. I am so sick and tired of seeing grown ass women(23-above) walking around with leggings under mini skirts. Skirts are for showing off your awesome legs. Why wear leggings to cover it up?. Umm to keep me warm?? Helllooo, if it’s chilly then maybe you should wear jeans instead? Why wear a skirt if it’s freaking 35 degrees outside? WHY??? If it’s Fall season, Skirts and Dresses that goes all the way just above your knees are awesome with knee-high boots. As shown here, and here. But shorts or skirts over leggings during Spring/Summer season is abominable.

Sienna Millier my ass. Lindsay Lohan style my ass. Don’t me wrong. I love the Mean Girls star. She can act, but some of her clothes choices are very questionable to me. At least Paris Hilton has the guts to really go all out when she’s wearing skirts, HAHAHA. You know I’ve lost it when I’m “praising” that skank’s fashion sense. All I’m saying is, if you want to wear a skirt or shorts, wear one. Don’t try to ruin the look by wearing those ghastly leggings. Unless you’re a kid, please don’t.

shorts_betty.jpg

Which is why when I saw this picture from Bettyjack through the Wardrobe Remix pool on Flickr, I had to feature it here. I was going to don a skirt myself, take a picture, and feature it here but I need to shave my legs first..hahaha. Maybe tomorrow. This, my fellow stylish fashionistas, is the way to wear shorts. Nice top too.

If you got the freaking legs, flaunt it. Stop covering it up with those idiotic leggings. Just because some desperate C-list(ahem Sienna) celebrity is shoving it down your throat doesn’t mean you should swallow it. Copish!!!

Now let me go stare at my shoe collection before I have a heart attack. ;)

ADDENDUM: Wear underwear under a skirt, ok please.NO to leggings, but YES to underwear. Always :).
