Wedding Dress From TARGET by Isaac Mizrahi

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

A very dear friend and avid reader of Bargain Styling informed me of this new press release from Target. Apparently, the wedding dresses will range form $9.99 to $159.99.

“My bridal gowns are all reinventions of the classics, providing an affordable alternative for women everywhere,” says designer Isaac Mizrahi. “I put a lot of design energy into designing this collection for Target because every bride deserves to find the gown of her dreams, regardless of her budget. Every woman remembers how she felt on her wedding day for the rest of her life, so ensuring she feels confident in the ‘perfect’ dress is very important to me.”

Read more about it here.

So the question is, Would You Buy a Dress from Target? I would, but not the $9.99. I love bargains but that price for a wedding dress?, That’s a little risky. Bear in mind, Isaac’s first foray into fashion was high end. I remember a documentary with him and the best supermodels in the world : Cyndi Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell. I remember vividly how Naomi was whining backstage because Linda keeps getting high heels while she gets the flats all the time. Was that a sign to Naomi’s future? Hitting employees with cellphones. LOL.

Anyhooo, so woud you buy Issac’s wedding dresses from Target?

Bold Print Dress #1

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

ks_swirl_dress.jpg

This green swirled-oval surplice wrap dress is on sale at Kohl’s for $29.99. The solid wraparound sash gives it that flirty look in a subtle way and a very accentuated look without looking too overdone as well. A black pair of stilletos or black pumps would go nicely with this dress. Pretty huh?

I told Sasha I’ll never be able to afford the tropical floral dress($258) from Nordstrom but I’m sure I’ll find affordable versions so this is the beginning of a Bold Print Dress series I’m going to be doing here at Bargain Styling. The cost of 1 dress from Nordstrom could get you 3 or 4 dresses with my bargain help. :)

My 2007 Oscar’s Best and Worst Dressed Picks

Monday, February 26th, 2007

One of my important mantras when it comes to being stylish and fashionable is “never pay retail” but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a wicked designer item, high end coutures or gorgeous designer gowns. I love watching award shows not because I am so invested in who wins or lose but because of the fashion. This year, the ceremeony was so boringly long, I apologize to all the technical and main category winners, but damn it just went on and on. Seriously, you all should’ve won. You’ve all worked hard and you’re all good, blah blah blah, but I’m more interested on what my favorites wore at the red carpet, LOL.

MY BEST DRESSED LIST

Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon were the two ladies I was looking forward to. They didn’t disappoint me. I loved how Gwyneth looked like a goddess with her flowing hair and just as classic as she always is. Her Zac Posen gown is one of those gowns where you really gotta have the “it” fashion sense to pull it off which is probably why Yahoo! Movies put her in their worst dressed list. BULL!. That’s ok though coz she’s among the InStyle’s Best Dressed List. Reese on the other hand is on everybody’s wish list. I have to confess though, I stayed up freaking all night watching the boring ceremony just to see her..hehehe. I love her new hairstyle. I loved this playful strapless Nina Ricci gown. There’s nothing else I could say about it coz the dress and how Resse carried if off so confidently speaks for itself. Loved It!, Loved It! Loved It!.

MY WORST DRESSED LIST

Sorry but Cameron’s white Valentino gown looks like one of those dreaded worst bridesmaid gowns. Ewww. The hair?, Come On, did Justin take her hair brush when they broke up?. Anne, Oh Anne. I don’t even know where to begin so I’m just going to take the high road and not say anything at all.
